Nick Peine was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to a pair of lawyers named Doug and Christine. A scrawny Midwestern kid, Nick played hockey and baseball throughout his childhood. When his freshman year of high school rolled around, Nick stood at a daunting 4’10” and begrudgingly hung up his skates and mitt. He began hanging out in the theater, reading Shakespeare, and developing an attraction to particularly tall girls (girls of average height). Nick became a staple of his high school’s theater program, starring in such productions as Taming Of The Shrew, A Comedy Of Errors, Oklahoma!, Nickel And Dimed, Once In A Lifetime, Our Town, and Fiddler On The Roof. Nick also began performing improv comedy with his high school’s improv troupe, “The Improv Olympics”. It was during high school that Nick’s drama teacher and friend, Tom Hegg, encouraged him to try stand-up comedy. After his first appearance at a local comedy club’s open mic night, it was off to the races. Nick spent his senior year rushing home immediately after school to do his homework so that his legal team (his parents) would let him use the car to go to comedy clubs at night.

Nick’s stand-up career started to get legs in college. In 2011 Nick won Boston University’s stand-up competition, “BU’s Funniest Student” and began opening for his comedy icon, Nick Swardson. With Swardson’s help, Nick began frequenting and performing in Los Angeles where he was quickly scooped up by management. Clips of Nick’s jokes slowly began to make their way onto Comedy Central’s website, Jokes.com. In 2012 Nick was named Rooftop Comedy’s National College Comedy Competition’s MVP and went on to perform at TBS Just For Laughs in Chicago. Shortly following his performance at the festival, the Huffington Post called Nick the “funniest college stand-up in the country”. During his senior year he began headlining comedy clubs in Boston and doing stand up and writing/performing sketches on MTVu. Nick graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in the spring of 2013. He now tours clubs and colleges all across the country.
